GIN - Funding, Guidelines

GIN – Global Incubator Network Austria

Global Incubator Network Austria (GIN) is a joint initiative of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) and Austria Wirtschaftsservice Gesellschaft mbH (aws). GIN is aimed at Austrian startups who want to internationalize their business activities in Asia, as well as Asian startups who want to get to know Austria as a startup hotspot, are looking for potential partners or are looking to further develop their business activities in the EU from Austria. Investors, incubators and accelerators from Austria and the GIN target regions are also addressed: Singapore, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Mainland China and South Korea.

GIN program

For startups, the FFG offers the GIN incubation program for international startups. The FFG supports the startups in establishing a concrete Austrian and European network by offering individual mentors, co-working spaces and workshops and by organizing networking events with actors from the Austrian innovation landscape (corporates, startups, R&D facilities etc.).

Funding principles

For the GO AUSTRIA and GO INDIVIDUAL tenders, the FFG guideline for SMEs is used as the legal basis for the funding.

Conditions

There are targeted tenders for the supervised program. The startups are selected by a jury depending on the defined focus of the respective call (GO AUSTRIA). GO INDIVIDUAL, for example, in the context of competitions, including with the help of our partners, will get determined in the target countries. In both funding formats, each startup is provided with an individual mentor. Support services are also offered in the form of co-working spaces and coaching up to the intensification of network activities in Austria in the amount of a maximum of 5,000 Euros.

Why participate?

The participants gather initial insights, experiences and contacts in the "Startup Hotspot Austria" network. In this way, they should prepare their innovation and their company for the European market.

How does it work?

In a selection process, a jury consisting of Austrian and international experts selects up to 10 international startups as participants. The participant program lasts a maximum of three weeks and deals in particular with the Austrian and European market, with the possibilities and its special features.
