Eurostars is a thematically open, joint funding programme set up by EUREKA and the European Commission (Article 185 of the Lisbon Treaty) and is specifically designed to support research and development activities in small and medium-sized enterprises.

During the period 2014 to 2020, the Eurostars-2 Programme determines two cut-off dates each year, after which all project proposals received are subjected to a selection process. Support for participants takes the form of non-refundable grants.
