Stakeholder Workshop: Future of the European Research Area
Haus der Forschung, Wien
1090 Wien, Sensengasse 1
In order to accelerate the development of the European Research Area (ERA), a new ERA narrative, with new goals and priorities for the period after 2020, are to be developed.
BACKGROUND AND MOTIVATION OF THE WORKSHOP
Following the adoption of a position paper on this topic by ERAC (the European Research Area and Innovation Committee), the European Commission (EC) is now working on a communication on the future of the ERA, which is to be presented in mid-2020. The Commission intends to involve national stakeholders directly in this process and is going on a “Tour de Capitale” through many European cities. At the workshop in Vienna, the EC will be represented by Director General Jean-Eric Paquet and staff.
OBJECTIVES OF THE WORKSHOP
- Exchange with Austrian stakeholders and the European Commission
- Collect contributions of Austrian key stakeholders to the new ERA Communication
- Reach clarity about the difficulties that stakeholders have/had with ERA so far and which priorities and measures they consider essential for the future of ERA
