Our wealth in the soil: Healthy soils in tangible projects

Soils are among society's most important resources. They are the most species-rich ecosystem compartment and are of crucial importance for food security, the preservation of biodiversity and climate regulation. In addition, soils provide the basis for mobility, leisure and recreation.  The EU mission "Healthy Soils" (A Soil Deal for Europe) aims to establish 100 living labs and lighthouse projects to improve soil quality in the EU by 2030. It is estimated that between 60 and 70% of soils in the EU are unhealthy. Soil is a fragile resource that needs to be carefully managed and preserved for future generations. One centimeter of soil takes hundreds of years to form, but can be lost in a single rainstorm or industrial accident.

In Austria, many exciting projects contribute to the fulfillment of the mission goals. For this reason, we are bringing them to the fore on this page. New projects are added every week, it's worth coming back!
