"No Deal"-BREXIT: Collaborative Projects

General information about a possible "no-deal"-Brexit can be found here.

  • I am a partner in a Horizon 2020 project which is coordinated by a UK organisation ...
It is essential that ongoing Horizon 2020 projects continue to meet the minimum requirements for participation according to Art. 9 of the Horizon 2020 Rules for Participation (collaborative projects: at least three independent organisations from three different EU Member States/Associated Countries; single-beneficiary projects: the host organisation must be located in an EU Member State/Associated Country).
If these requirements are no longer met there are two options:
    • either another project partner can be found to replace the previous UK partner (Amendment initiated by the European Commission (EC))
    • or the EC may terminate the project

This means that the consortium may have to find another or additional project partner to replace the partner from the United Kingdom (UK) in order to again meet the minimum requirements for participation.
After a possible "no-deal"-Brexit the UK organisation would no longer receive EU funding, but may continue its role as a coordinator.

  • I am a partner in a Horizon 2020 project in which a UK organisation is a consortium partner but does not receive EU funding...
In this case, a possible "no-deal"-Brexit will have no impact on the eligibility for funding of the UK organisation(s).

  • The withdrawal of a UK organisation from our Horizon 2020 project consortium means that the minimum requirements for participation according to Art. 9 of the Horizon 2020 Participation Rules or the work programme relevant to me are no longer met ...
There are two possibilities if the minimum requirements for participation according to Art. 9 of the Horizon 2020 Rules for Participation are no longer met:
    • either another project partner can be found to replace the previous UK partner (Amendment initiated by the EC)
    • or the EC may terminate the project

  • Is the existence of my Horizon 2020 project with UK participation endangered by a no-deal scenario?
This will only be the case if the minimum requirements for participation according to Art. 9 of the Horizon 2020 Rules for Participation are no longer met. There will be no automatic termination of Horizon 2020 projects carried out with UK partners.
