FFG Academy "Meet & Share": Become an Evaluator: Discover why and how!

Horizon Europe evaluation across the three Pillars

21.10.2026, 13:30 - 15:00
In this 90-minute online webinar, three experienced evaluators – one from each pillar of Horizon Europe – share their first-hand experiences and discuss how evaluation works across the programme landscape of Horizon Europe. The event combines a compact informational input with an open panel discussion and audience Q&A, and is aimed at researchers, research managers, innovators and anyone considering taking on the evaluator role.

Horizon Europe evaluators play a central role in shaping European research and innovation funding. Yet the work of evaluators remains largely invisible to the wider research community. How are they selected? What do they assess? What is the experience really like in practice?

This webinar brings that experience into the open. A panel of three evaluators, one from each pillar of Horizon Europe, will discuss:

  • How and why they entered the evaluator role
  • How evaluation differs across the three pillars
  • What skills and perspectives are particularly useful
  • What they took away professionally from the experience

Programme:

13:30   Welcome and orientation
Scene-setting: evaluation logic across the three pillars
Panel discussion: experiences from the field
             Open Q&A with the audience

14:50   Closing remarks and next steps

Participants will gain a realistic, practice-oriented picture of evaluator work in Horizon Europe and have the opportunity to ask questions directly to experienced evaluators from all three pillars.

Format: Online via Zoom, interactive format, no preparation required

Registration opens: August 21, 2026
