Submission Opportunities for Bi- and Multilateral R&D Projects

Globalstars calls are initiated by the Eureka network based on a long-term strategy coordinated with the participating countries. Each call focuses on a country outside the network and can either be open-topic or have a specific thematic focus. The aim of these calls is to support international, market-oriented research and experimental development projects involving at least two companies, with the goal of developing a product, process, or service.

Requirements for Eureka Globalstars Projects

  • At least two independent companies, one from a Eureka member country (or associated partner country) and the other from the respective Globalstars country
  • Balanced distribution of research activities and exploitation opportunities among project partners (no partner or country may account for more than 70% of project costs)
  • Market-oriented research and experimental development (Technology Readiness Level 5–7) to develop a product, process, or service
  • Non-military application
  • Submission at both national and international level

For Globalstars projects, transnational project partners submit a joint Eureka application via the Eureka submission portal. In parallel, a national funding application is also required. In Austria, you can apply for any available funding, but it is recommended to submit the national application through the FFG Generale Programme via eCall. To facilitate Eureka alignment, the long title of the Generale Programme application should be the “Eureka Project Title”, and the short title should include the “Eureka Project Acronym”. It is also important that the national application carries the same project title as the international Eureka application.

For Globalstars calls, it is crucial that Austrian project partners observe national submission deadlines to allow a coordinated funding decision by the funding agencies.

Selection Procedure

Evaluation of Eureka network projects is carried out nationally, according to the respective funding criteria and guidelines. Evaluation criteria considered by all national funding agencies include: market potential, innovation, and suitability of project partners.

If the project is positively evaluated by the national funding agencies, the Eureka label is awarded, and the national funding is subsequently disbursed.
