Call overview for LIFE - Subprogram Clean Energy Transition (CET)

Only the topics in the LIFE sub-program Clean Energy Transition (CET) are relevant for the deadline of 16 September 2026. These calls support projects that drive forward the transformation of the European energy system - for example through measures on energy efficiency, renewable energies, local energy communities, capacity building in administration and consulting and better implementation of EU energy legislation.

What can be funded?

LIFE consists of the 4 sub-programs Nature and Biodiversity, Circular Economy, Climate Change and Energy Transfer. The type and content of the projects are largely open as long as they contribute to the implementation of the EU program objectives;

Who can be funded?

European consortia consisting of several (usually at least 3) organizations from 3 countries are funded, see Call documents of the European Commission
 

What is the amount of funding?

The budget available for the call is 85.5 million euros

A maximum of 95% of the project sum is funded per project.

What are the submission criteria?

Legal entities are eligible to apply if they are

  • registered in the EU
  • or associated with the LIFE program (currently associated with: Iceland, Ukraine, Moldova, North Macedonia, Montenegro).

Natural persons are not eligible to apply.

Legal entities from third countries (not associated with the LIFE program) are eligible to apply in exceptional cases if their participation is necessary to achieve the objectives of a specific measure in order to ensure the effectiveness of the interventions carried out in the Union. In principle, however, they should bear the costs of their participation themselves.

How does the submission work?

The project application is submitted electronically via the Funding and Tenders Portal of the European Commission .

When will a decision be made?

The results of the evaluation are expected in February - April 2027, depending on the type of submission.
