Mobility Transition 2026/2 - Mobility System

Driving the mobility transition through R&D in passenger mobility, freight mobility, and transportation infrastructure.

The call for proposals on the mobility transition in the fall of 2026 focuses on the development and implementation of innovative solutions to reduce, shift, and improve traffic within the mobility system.

What can be funded?

The call for proposals “Mobility Transition 2026/2 – Mobility System” seeks submissions focusing on the following areas:

  • 1. Local and regional demonstration projects: Funding is available for projects that test innovative contributions to the mobility transition under real-world conditions or innovatively further develop existing approaches. This focus area is thematically open, but alignment with specific local or regional needs is essential. Local implementation partners and stakeholders must therefore be actively involved in project design and implementation. 
  • 2. System innovations for a sustainable mobility system: This focus area is aimed at projects at an early stage of development that aim to build expertise and (further) develop innovative systemic solutions, services, and processes for the mobility transition. The focus is on projects that address the interplay of technological, organizational, and societal changes and go beyond purely technical solutions. A prerequisite for funding is the involvement of relevant stakeholders as well as a comprehensive concept for analyzing the impact of the scalable solution. 
  • 3. Technologies and innovations for future-proof transportation infrastructure: This priority area is aimed at projects that use technical solutions or innovations to ensure climate-resilient, resource-efficient, and cost-effective maintenance

Who can be funded?

The target groups include companies, universities, research institutions, and other stakeholders that contribute to the goals of the mobility transition.

What is the amount of funding?

A total of 12.1 million euros is available for this call for proposals.

Submissions must be made online via eCall and must be received by 12:00 noon on February 24, 2027.

The decision is expected in May 2027.
