Technology Infrastructure Funding 2025

The current Call supports the establishment of R&D infrastructure for applied research and development. This Call exclusively addresses technology infrastructure for economic use.

The Technology Infrastructure Funding 2025 initiative is aimed at companies and research and knowledge dissemination organisations (e.g. universities, non-university research institutions) to strengthen the ability of business and science to engage in strategic innovation, enabling them to react even more flexibly to global developments and accelerate transformative developments (fundamental transformation, disruptive changes).

What can be funded?

Projects to acquire and build technology infrastructures for application-oriented research and development are funded.

The call for tenders is restricted in terms of subject matter:

  • Energy transition
  • Mobility transition
  • Digital and key technologies
  • Space and aviation technologies
  • Circular economy and production technologies
  • Climate-neutral cities

Who can be funded?

  • Companies
  • Facilities for research and knowledge dissemination
    • Higher education institutions (universities and technical colleges)
    • Non-university research institutions
    • Technology transfer facilities
    • Innovation intermediaries and other science-oriented organizations (e. g. associations according to the association's purpose, operators of R&D infrastructures)

What is the amount of funding?

Max. 1.5 million euros, max. 50 % of the total project costs

What are the submission criteria?

  • Individual application or consortium
  • Project duration: maximum 3 years
  • Total eligible costs: at least EUR 300,000
  • The consortium management must have a permanent establishment and/or branch in Austria
  • The R&D infrastructure must be located in Austria 

How does the submission work?

Submission is only possible electronically via eCall and must be completed completely and in good time before the submission deadline.

When will a decision be made?

The funding decision will be made at the end of May/beginning of June 2026.
