Shaping future prospects of the European research and innovation landscape

"Haus der Forschung" welcomes the "Tour d'Europe" to Vienna >> RISE group discusses with national research experts

On 15 and 16 January 2018 the "Tour d'Europe" was welcomed to Vienna: At FFG the Advisory group RISE (Research, Innovation, Science Experts group), initiated by Carlos Moedas, Commissioner for research, science and innovation met national research experts in order to discuss the future prospects of the European research and innovation landscape. The "Tour d’Europe" takes place in the context of Commission President Juncker's initiative of a wide and open reflection on the future direction of the European project. It focuses on the field of research and innovation and its role in wider European policy. The event in Vienna was co-hosted by the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) and the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG).

After the meeting Luc Soete, coordinator of the Tour d'Europe, thanked all participants for "a very inspiring discussion. We have gained much input and a wealth of ideas that will certainly stimulate and enrich the discussion on the 9th Framework Programme".

"Research is a European success story. Where the European research and innovation landscape is heading is a joint process that will also be shaped by the discussions during the Tour d'Europe," said Managing Directors of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) Henrietta Egerth and Klaus Pseiner. As National Contact Point (NCP) for the European framework programme "Horizon 2020", FFG offers specific information and targeted support and thus is a reliable partner for the European Commission, the ministries and cooperation partners on the one hand and researchers on the other hand.
