"The Austrian Research Promotion Agency FFG is a strong partner for research and innovation in the field of information and communication technologies – both, at national and European level", say Henrietta Egerth and Klaus Pseiner, the two Managing Directors of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency FFG. The conference "ICT 2018" will take place from 4 to 6 December 2018 during the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Under the theme "Imagine Digital - Connect Europe" more than 6,000 participants are expected at the Austria Center Vienna. The FFG supports the European Commission and the Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) in organising this largest ICT network event in Europe and will be present in the "Austrian Village" with it’s stand, the "FFG-Fördermobil".

At the "IMAGINE18" – the Austrian ICT annual event of BMVIT and FFG was integrated into the "ICT 2018" this year – FFG Managing Director Klaus Pseiner gave the starting signal for the Ideas Marathon. "In the ICT sector, developments are rapid – so I'm very curious to see what ideas will be presented at the Ideas Marathon. The more innovative, the better", said Klaus Pseiner at the opening of the Ideas Marathon, where participants who had submitted their innovative ICT ideas in the run-up to "IMAGINE18" presented them to the public. The winner determined by the audience will be brought to the stage by Federal Minister Norbert Hofer at the closing ceremony of the "ICT 2018" Conference.

The FFG is also organizing two networking sessions at the "ICT 2018" with a focus on networking digital startups and – via Enterprise Europe Network and Ideal-ist – the largest matchmaking event with more than 6,700 face2face meetings. In addition to top-class speakers, "ICT 2018" also offers a wide range of networking opportunities and is a platform for current developments with regard to the forthcoming Framework Programme for Research and Innovation "Horizon Europe" (2021 - 2027), where the "partial general approach" was recently reached under the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the EU. As the National Contact Point for the EU Research Framework Programme "Horizon 2020", the FFG is also a strong partner at European level for researchers and companies in Austria and provides a comprehensive range of information and advice for calls in the ICT field. With success: Since the start of "Horizon 2020" in 2014, 148 million euros (data as of October 2018) have already been brought to Austria’s ICT sector.
