Which companies are considered startups by the FFG?

  • Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs),
  • whose incorporation at the start of the R&D project dates back no more than five years (date of first entry in the Commercial Register/Business Compass),
  • and which are genuinely new (not restructurings, new branches, mergers of existing companies, etc.).
