Industry-Scale Reality Check 2026

The further development of prototype components of an FFG-funded preliminary project in TRLs 7 and 8 is supported. This must be a Experimental Development  whose  focus is on the following topics Key technologies  is located:

• Quantum technologies and photonics
• Advanced materials
• Advanced production technologies and robotics
• Chips, electronic components and systems
• Artificial intelligence (AI) and data innovation

Please use the TRL scheme (Technology Readiness Levels) as a guide during the application phase.

• Ambitious small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)), 
• who have already developed a functional prototype as part of an FFG-funded preliminary project
• and now want to demonstrate this on a larger scale for the first time.

The current SME definition of the EU is decisive. 

Companies in difficulty as defined are excluded from funding. Information on classification can be found here.

The maximum funding is EUR 1 million per project and company . Depending on the size of the company, the funding rate is

• 35 % for medium-sized companies
• 45 % for small companies 

• Further development of prototype components an FFG-funded preliminary project
• Demonstration in a real environment
• The funding period of the preliminary project must be already be finished (End after 01.01.2025)
• Project duration at least 6, maximum 24 months
• No cooperation possible (Research institutions can be involved in third-party costs)

Submission is possible via the eCall of the FFG  from the start of the tender (June 01, 2026, 10) until the end of the tender (October 15, 2026, 12:00 noon).

The  awarding meeting for the tender Industry-Scale Reality Check 2026  will take place on January 28, 2027.
