COIN SME Innovation Network

Improving the innovative capacity of Austrian companies – especially SMEs – through technology and knowledge transfer in networks.

What is being funded?

Funding is available for the implementation of concrete innovation projects (products, processes or services) in a network with several consortium members.

Through structured cooperation within the national network, all consortium members should achieve a significant and sustainable leap in quality and innovation. Furthermore, the collective added value achieved through the network should, as far as possible, have an impact beyond the funded network.

Innovative SMEs that have not yet or only sporadically engaged in research, development and innovation (RDI) should gain systematic access to external expertise (e.g. from research and knowledge dissemination institutions or from business partners) within the network, so that RDI and cooperation become part of their regular practice.

The funding of COIN SME innovation network projects is not restricted to specific technologies or innovative processes.

Projects funded to date:

Further information on the projects funded and approved for publication can be found in our project database.

Note:

A similar initiative called IraSME - International Research Activities in SME promotes the establishment and expansion of cross-border business cooperation networks for the implementation of specific RDI projects. The primary objective here is also to improve the innovation and cooperation capabilities and innovation output of Austrian companies (especially SMEs).

The target groups include companies, research and knowledge dissemination institutions, universities, technical colleges, private universities, non-university research institutions, technology transfer institutions, innovation intermediaries and other science-oriented organisations (e.g. associations with a corresponding purpose) and other non-economic institutions (self-governing bodies, non-profit organisations such as NPOs). All institutions and organisations approved as applicants for funding may also be partners and, as such, recipients of funding.
