COIN SME Innovation Networks 2024

‘COIN SME Innovation Networks’ aims to improve the innovative capacity and output of Austrian companies (especially small and medium-sized enterprises, or SMEs).
Funding is provided for the implementation of concrete innovation projects (products, processes, services) in a network with several consortium members.
A total of up to EUR 4 million is available for the parallel calls COIN SME Innovation Networks 2024 and IraSME (35th call).

What can be funded?

Funding is provided for the implementation of concrete innovation projects (products, processes, services) by several consortium members within a network.

The structured cooperation within the network is intended to achieve a significant and sustainable leap in quality and innovation for all consortium members. Furthermore, the collective added value achieved through the network should have an impact that extends beyond the funded network as far as possible.

Who can be funded?

  • Companies of any legal form
  • Institutions for research and knowledge dissemination
    • Universities
    • Universities of applied sciences
    • Non-university research institutions
    • Technology transfer institutions, innovation intermediaries and other science-oriented organisations such as associations with a corresponding purpose
  • Other non-economic institutions
    • Self-governing bodies
    • Non-profit organisations (NPOs)

What is the amount of funding?

• NEW: Maximum funding amount €600,000
• Total eligible costs at least €100,000

What are the submission criteria?

  • At least 4 independent companies (including at least 3 small and/or medium-sized enterprises - SMEs)
  • Minimum duration 1 year, duration 2 years (in justified exceptional cases, maximum 3 years)
  • The consortium leader must have a permanent establishment and/or branch in Austria.
  • The consortium leader submits the funding application and is the contact person for the FFG
  • Binding cooperation agreement

How does the submission work?

Submissions can only be made electronically via eCall before the deadline.

The deadline for submitting the full application in eCall is 11 April 2025, 12:00:00 (CEST).

Applications must be received by the submission office in electronic form (eCall) by this date. Applicants are responsible for ensuring that their applications are received on time. Late submissions, including partial submissions, will not be accepted.

When will a decision be made?

The evaluation committee meeting is expected to take place in July 2025. The decision is scheduled for July/August 2025.
