NCC-AT is a cooperation between the Ministry of the Interior (MoI) and the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), and is part of the EU-wide network of national coordination centers together with the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) the new European framework to support innovation and industrial policy in the field of cybersecurity. The implementation of the NCC-AT is carried out by the European Union within the framework of DIGITAL Europe programme financially supported.
The overall coordination of the Austrian National Cybersecurity Coordination Center lies with the Ministry of the Interior (MoI). The MoI acts as a national contact point and is represented on the Governing Board (GB) of the ECCC. The FFG supports the Mol, provides funding advice and processes its own funding, helps the community build skills and provides support with applications and networking. Tasks and services
- Cybersecurity one-stop shop : Bundling information on existing (national and European) funding opportunities and supporting all players from industry, civil society, as well as university and research institutions in submitting applications and implementing projects.
- Establishing and expanding a cybersecurity competency community in Austria with stakeholders from the private and public sectors and from science, research and civil society.
The aim is to strengthen skills and cooperation in the field of cybersecurity as well as to network with potential partners at the European level.
- Contribution to building cybersecurity skills through awareness-raising campaigns and support for educational programmes, projects and initiatives arising in both local and EU contexts.
- Creation of synergies in the strategic positioning of Austria by contributing to national cybersecurity strategies .
- Contribution to future ones EU work programmes in the field of cybersecurity through participation in working and expert groups at national and EU level.
- Contribution to strategic tasks of the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC) by providing expertise.
News
The new Digital Europe work programmes were published on March 28th. In October 2025, the Cybersecurity work programme 2025-2027 was changed and supplemented. The budget totals 1.3 billion euros, with the thematic focus on the areas of artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity and digital skills.
