Promoting the expansion of comprehensive gigabit connectivity with high-performance, affordable infrastructure

The goal of the Broadband Strategy 2030 is to provide Austria with nationwide coverage of symmetric gigabit-capable access networks by 2030. Every citizen, every business, and all public institutions should be able to benefit from the opportunities and technical possibilities of digitalization under equal conditions, regardless of their geographic location.
A sustainable and secure broadband infrastructure can only be ensured through the use of fiber optics as the future-proof transmission medium and through the nationwide expansion of 5G. Funding support will enable the development of forward-looking gigabit applications for innovative products, services, or business models with high requirements in terms of security and quality of service, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and healthcare.
