From Basic Research to Innovation: ERC & EIC Short Talks

11.12.2024, 11:00 - 12:00
FFG and partner organisations cordially invite to a series of short online talks sharing the practical experiences of scientists and entrepreneurs with transferring results from basic research projects. The sessions will put the spotlight on the ERC Proof of Concept Grant as well as the EIC Pathfinder and Transition Instrument from the perspective of various scientific fields.

The first short talk will take place on 11 December 2024 and focus on the Physical Sciences and Engineering domain. Speakers include Daniel Kiener, Montanuniversität Leoben, who will talk about his insights and learnings in the context of his ERC Proof of Concept Grant TOUGHIT (Tough Interface Tailored Nanostructured Metals), and Josiane P. Lafleur, Invisible-Light Labs, who will share her experiences from the EIC Transition project NEMILIES (“NanoElectroMechanical Infrared Light”) on Industrial and Environmental Sensing.

All ERC&EIC Short Talks will start with a crisp introduction of the ERC Proof of Concept Grant, the EIC Pathfinder and the EIC Transition instrument, the key Horizon Europe funding instruments to support the translation of research results into new products or services. Afterwards, speakers will talk about their experiences with these schemes and will answer participants´ questions. We are looking forward to interactive discussions.

The ERC & EIC Short talks (held in English) address in particular the following target groups:

  • ERC Grantees interested in research transfer
  • EIC Pathfinder applicants and beneficiaries
  • EIC Transition Instrument applicants and beneficiaries
  • Members of Tech Transfer Offices (TTOs)
  • Research managers and administrators at universities, research institutions and companies
  • Enterprises interested in exploring funding opportunities at European level
