Austrian Chips Competence Centre (AT-C³)

The European Chips Act and its Chips for Europe initiative include, as one of the key operational objectives, the setup of a network of Competence Centres for semiconductors (Chips Competence Centres). The purpose of this call is to select a candidate for the Austrian Chips Competence Centre (AT-C³).

What is funded?

The setup and operation of the Austrian Chips Competence Centre (AT-C³) as a non-profit innovation laboratory. The AT-C³ is co-funded by FFG and the European Union (Digital Europe Programme).

Who can apply?

Potential beneficiaries are organisations with a non-profit orientation or a consortium out of non-profit organisations. A track record in the Austrian semiconductor R&D/industry is mandatory. Beneficiaries must be based in Austria.

What is the amount of funding?

The national funding is max. 50% of the eligible cost. The European co-funding is max. 50% of the eligible cost. The maximum national funding is 4 mio. € for a period of four years.

What are the submission criteria?

In the first phase, potential beneficiaries need to submit an online application in English language to FFG until the call deadline. Subsequent to the national selection procedure, the candidate needs to apply in a call organised by the Chips Joint Undertaking, too. Funding will finally be available only for beneficiaries selected on European Level as well. 

What do I need to apply? 

The non-economic/non-profit orientation of the participating organisation(s) shall be verifiable. 
An advisory meeting with FFG is mandatory until 8.3.2024.

When will the decision be made?

The national funding recommendation is expected end of May, 2024. The European call will open mid 2024, submission deadline should be in September 2024. The final decision is expected in Q4/2024.
