FFG is a partner in the BMAW’s new transformation drive

FFG supports the transformation of the Austrian economy. BMAW provides 300 million euros in research funding through to 2026.

The Federal Ministry for Labour and Economy (BMAW) is providing an additional 300 million euros for the promotion of applied, industrial research for the period 2023 to 2026 to support the Austrian economy in its sustainable and digital transformation. The Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) is the central implementation partner for this large-scale climate and transformation initiative. The additional funding budget is intended to strengthen the competitiveness, resilience, and independence of domestic companies and to establish sustainable value chains in Austria, as Minister of Labour and Economy Martin Kocher explained at today’s presentation.

“We need continuous development and constant investment in advanced technologies to remain internationally competitive. During the digital transformation, it is essential to help domestic companies invest in innovations,” explain FFG Managing Directors Henrietta Egerth and Klaus Pseiner. “We will support the Federal Government’s transformation initiative to the best of our ability with research and technology funding and qualification measures, and look forward to many exciting and visionary submissions.”

The transformation initiative focuses on the automotive and semiconductor industries (also with regard to the European Chips Act), life science and digitalisation, all key sectors. Funding is provided to develop products, services, and processes that make a significant contribution to sustainability, crisis resilience, independence (e.g., supply chain security), societal challenges, or the expansion of competencies (transformative corporate projects).
