Horizon Europe: Ausweitung der Beteiligung und Verbreitung von Exzellenz (WIDERA-Widening)

Das Gesamtbudget für den 4. Horizon Europe Programmteil „Ausweitung der Beteiligung und Stärkung des Europäischen Forschungsraums (WIDERA)" ist mit 3.393 Mio. EUR veranschlagt.

Auf die WIIDERA Sub-Programmlinie "Ausweitung der Beteiligung und Verbreitung von Exzellenz (WIDERA-Widening)" entfallen davon für die Laufzeit von Horizon Europe ca. 2.955 Millionen EUR.

Die Europäische Kommission wird am 12. Dezember 2025 das Arbeitsprogramm 2026-2027 des vierten Horizon Europe Programmteils „Ausweitung der Beteiligung und Stärkung des Europäischen Forschungsraums | Widening Participation and Strenghening the European Research Area (WIDERA)“ veröffentlichen.

Hierin werden alle Ausschreibungsthemen (Calls und Call Topics) für die Jahre 2026 und 2027 detailliert beschrieben (Inhalte, spezifische Teilnahmebedingungen/Specific & Eligibility Conditions, Einreichfristen, Budget, etc.).

Die WIDERA Sub-Programmlinie „Ausweitung der Beteiligung und Verbreitung von Exzellenz | Widening Participation and Spreading Excellence (WIDERA-Widening)“ wird im WIDERA Arbeitsprogramm 2026-2027 durch Ausschreibungen in der Destination „Widening participation and spreading excellence“ implementiert.

Die WIDERA-Widening Ausschreibungen mit vorgegebenen Themen werden im Rahmen strategischer Planungen und entsprechend ihrer erwarteten Wirkung jährlich aktualisiert.

Das indikative WIDERA-Widening Budget beträgt für die Ausschreibungen des Arbeitsprogramms 2026-2027 ca. 604,50 Mio. Euro

    Call Topic Budget:  264.50 Mio. EUR
    EU Contribution per project:  0.80 - 1.50 Mio. EU

    Expected project duration: duration of the Twinning project should be up to 3 years
    In order to achieve the expected outcomes, participation as coordinators to the call is limited to legal entities established in Widening countries.

  • ERA Fellowships

    Type of Action: TMA Postdoctoral Fellowships - European Fellowships
    Call Topic Budget:  8.00 Mio. EUR
    No. of projects to be funded: 50
    To be eligible to this call the host organisation must be located in a Widening country.
    For admissibility, procedure and legal and financial set-up of the Grant Agreement see exceptions and specific conditions for MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships - European Fellowships in the MSCA Work Programme part.
    In order to apply for the ERA Fellowships call, applicants must submit their proposal to the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026.
    The application to the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026 will be automatically resubmitted to this call in case the proposal fails to reach an adequate place in the ranking to be funded.
    This simplified submission procedure to the ERA Fellowships call presents applicants moving to Widening countries with an additional funding opportunity but there is the possibility to opt out during the application stage.
    The proposals submitted under the ERA Fellowships must fulfil all the admissibility and eligibility conditions of the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026 and pass all the thresholds for that call.

  • Excellence Hubs

    EU Contribution per project:  1.50 - 4.50 Mio. EU

    To achieve the expected outcomes, participation as coordinators to the call is limited to legal entities established in Widening countries.
    Proposals must involve at least two R&I ecosystems from two different Widening countries.
    Beneficiaries may provide financial support to third parties. The support to third parties can only be provided in the form of grants and is limited to SMEs and start-up companies.The maximum amount to be granted to each third party is EUR 60 000.

Alternative Fördermöglichkeiten

COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) ist neben Horizon Europe eine der wichtigsten Säulen der Förderung von Forschungszusammenarbeit in Europa und damit ein essentieller Baustein des Europäischen Forschungsraums (ERA). Durch COST-Aktionen werden thematisch offene Forschungsnetzwerke gefördert. Auf diese Weise wird der Wissensaustausch zwischen Forschenden sowie eine verbesserte Koordination von Forschungsaktivitäten inklusive der Verbreitung ihrer Ergebnisse ermöglicht. COST bietet außerdem die wertvolle Möglichkeit, jüngere ForscherInnen in Netzwerke mit einzubeziehen und durch maßgeschneiderte Aktivitäten zu ihrer Weiterbildung beizutragen.

COST ist ein Widening Programm
COST wird in Horizon Europe vollständig der „WIDERA-Widening“-Programmlinie zugeordnet und hat am 01.11.2021 unter diesen neuen Voraussetzungen neu gestartet. Die Verankerung unter den Widening Agenden gehen mit Änderungen des Programms einher, welche den Fokus auf die Unterstützung und Förderung so genannter "Inclusiveness Target Countries (ITCs)" unterstreicht. Momentan sind alle COST "Inclusiveness Target Countries (ITCs)" auch Widening-Länder. ITCs sind durch niedrigere Forschungs-, Entwicklungs- und Innovationskapazität gekennzeichnet. Die spezifische Unterstützung der Widening Länder in COST ist im WIDERA Arbeitsprogramm definiert. Außerdem sollen 50% des Budgets und 80% der Aktivitäten auf Widening Ziele abgestimmt sein.
