European and International Programmes

The task of the FFG’s European and International Programmes is to strengthen Austria’s participation in programmes, initiatives and actions of European and international research and technology cooperation, especially in the EU Framework Programme.

FFG's European and International Programmes provide regular information about European programmes and initiatives to over 30,000 researchers, companies and institutions in Austria. Our experts hold an average of 6,500 advisory sessions on European RTI programmes every year.

  • Our information, advisory and networking services are geared to Austrian companies, universities, research institutions and others interested in participating in European research initiatives. The range of services extends from project-specific support through to targeted assistance with strategic positioning in the European research and innovation environment. European background information and forward-looking information about developments in the European RTI programme environment are also part of our strategic support services.
  • Horizon Europe is the EU’s key funding programme for research and innovation with a budget of €95.5 billion. It tackles climate change, helps to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and boosts the EU’s competitiveness and growth. Research and innovation provide new knowledge and innovative solutions to overcome our societal, ecological and economic challenges. The programme facilitates collaboration and strengthens the impact of research and innovation in developing, supporting and implementing EU policies while tackling global challenges. It supports creating and better dispersing of excellent knowledge and technologies. Horizon Europe helps researchers and top class innovators to develop and deploy their ideas. It teams up the best talent and equips them with world-class research infrastructures. Moreover, it supports breakthrough innovations and helps to create new services and markets.

In addition to Horizon Europe, European and International Programmes also provide support services for EUREKA, Eurostars, the Digital Europe Programme, the Enterprise Europe Network, COST, the European Defence Fund (EDF) and a large number of Partnership Initiatives.

  • In its role as National Contact Point for Horizon Europe, including European Research Area (ERA) initiatives, the FFG supports you in European research and innovation projects along the entire project cycle and in enhancing your strategic position within the European Research Area.

The European and International Programmes are financed by the Republic of Austria and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber.
