Projektbeschreibung

Satelliten-Erdbeobachtung ist eine zentrale Informationsquelle für die Landwirtschaft und liefert transparente, zeitgerechte und konsistente Daten zur landwirtschaftlichen Produktivität auf Feldstücks-, regionaler oder nationaler Ebene. Das langfristige Ziel von GeoVille als Dienstleister ist die Etablierung eines operationellen Landwirtschafts-Monitoringdienstes im Rahmen des österreichischen Datenzentrums für Erdbeobachtung (EODC), auf welches von Nutzern über das Internet und mobile Dienste zugegriffen werden kann. Die zielgerichtete Auswertung von Datenreihen des zukünftigen Sentinel-2 Satelliten für ein operationelles Landwirtschafts-Monitoring erfordert vorbereitende Entwicklungsaktivitäten, um entsprechende Auswertungs- und Datendistributionskapazitäten aufzubauen. Im Speziellen soll das vorgeschlagene Projekt • Performante Prozessketten für die Identifizierung von Landwirtschaftsflächen, Fruchtartenerkennung und Wuchsqualität in einer Supercomputer-Umgebung entwickeln • Ein interaktives Webportal für die Bestellung und Auslieferung der Daten im Rahmen des EODC erstellen Das CROPMON Projekt wird technologische Schlüsselkomponenten für diese Dienste im EODC entwickeln und hinsichtlich nationaler, europäischer und internationaler Anforderungen demonstrieren.

Abstract

Satellite Earth Observation (EO) contribute to crop monitoring as a proven source for transparent, timely and consistent information on agricultural productivity at field, regional or national scale. The long-term aim of the service provider GeoVille is to establish an operational crop monitoring service enabled via the Earth Observation Data Centre (EODC), which can be selected and accessed by the user independently via a web and mobile enabled data channels. The dedicated and full exploitation of Sentinel-2 observations to provide operational crop monitoring information solutions will require preparatory activities to enable a dedicated processing and dissemination capacity. Specifically, the proposed project shall enable • dedicated, supercomputer ready processing chains for the identification of crop types / areas as well as for condition monitoring and • a online, interactive service order and delivery platform for the EODC. The key technical components to reach this goal shall be developed and demonstrated for national, European and international requirements within the framework of CROPMON.
